CONFERENCE SPECIAL GUEST - Carol Mayo Jenkins

CONFERENCE SPECIAL GUEST - Carol Mayo JenkinsThe Tennessee Theatre Association is proud to announce a special guest for this years conference which will be held October 21 - 24 in Cookeville, TN.

CAROL MAYO JENKINS has enjoyed a very long and rewarding career in theatre and is delighted to still be considering herself a "work in progress." She has studied in London at the Central School of Speech and Dramatic Art and is a founding member of the progressive and still controversial Drama Centre, London. Miss Jenkins performed both on Broadway and Off-Broadway, the former including First Monday In October with Henry Fonda and Jane Alexander, The Suicide with Derek Jacobi, and Oedipus Rex with John Cullum. She was Zinnia in the one-woman show for which she won a Drama Desk nomination. In the early 1980s she was cast in the award-winning television series Fame, and for five years played English teacher Elizabeth Sherwood. Miss Jenkins now lives in her hometown of Knoxville where she is on the faculty of the University of Tennessee and occasionally works with the Clarence Brown Theatre.

    TTA CONFERENCE 2010 SCHEDULE

    President's Welcome:

It is with great pleasure that I welcome theatre lovers from across the state to Cookeville! I think you will find that Cookeville has a vibrant arts community with active theatres, museums, and independent artists. We are fortunate to have a performing arts center downtown that is host to a myriad of activities seen by thousands of patrons each year. As you attend and enjoy conference activities, I invite you to explore our downtown area and University Campus. I would also encourage you to use your conference experience to refresh and gain new enthusiasm for the craft of theatre and return to your corner of the state ready to make a difference in the lives of the citizens you serve.

Many thanks go to Melissa Shafer and Anna Filippo for conference preparation and planning. Thank you also to Mark Creter at Tennessee Technological University and Charles Long at the Wesley Foundation Arena Theatre for their donation of facility, time, and expertise. Please enjoy this year's conference and I look forward to seeing you at the theatre!
